Evidentemente il nuovo stadio porta assai poco bene agli Yankees: dopo la sconfitta alla partita d' esordio con Cleveland, beccando 9 punti in un solo inning, stasera ne hanno presi 14 al 2°, sempre contro gli Indians!
Non è che quell' operaio tifoso di Boston, che fu licenziato per aver sotterrato una maglietta dei Red Sox sotto il campo di gioco dello Yankee Stadium, ne ha nascoste più di una?

Minchia, tra Wang e Clagget ne hanno combinate: 4 singoli, 3 HR, 5 doppi, un WP ed una BB, in soli 3 eliminati.
Vediamo se per portare in fondo una partita persa mettono Molina o un coach sul monte.

Mi ricordo che fecero lanciare Wade Boggs, ma solo per soddisfare un desiderio che aveva fin da ragazzo, e non se la cavò neoppure male non prendendo nessun punto nell' inning che lanciò.....

Intanto dall'altra parte utilizzano anche l'instant replay, in aperto contrasto con l'IBL che vorrebbe partite il più brevi possibili, i "lungagnoni" in grigio della MLB hanno addirittura aspettato 8 minuti prima di prendere una decisione.

Posada, Instant Replay Lift Yankees Past Tribe

In a pinch hit at-bat in the seventh inning of Sunday’s game, Jorge Posada crushed a two-run homerun into the short porch in right field of the new Yankee Stadium to push the New York Yankees in front of the Cleveland Indians to lead the Yankees' to a 7-3 win.

A couple of fans sitting behind the wall got involved with the play, reaching over the gate to snatch the ball.

Instant replay was used to determine whether or not the ball would have been a homer if the fans did not interfere.

The umpires convened, and after eight and a half minutes, ruled Posada’s hit a homerun. They concluded that the ball would have hit the fan’s chest, and Cleveland right fielder Trevor Crowe would not have caught the ball.

“I saw the ball hit right behind the fence, and it was worth waiting the eight and a half minutes,” Yankee skipper Joe Girardi said after the game to the YES Network.

“I looked at it and looked at it, and I knew it would not be overturned. The umpire told me the ball hit the fan behind the fence.”

“I wasn’t sure when I hit it if it was going to go out or not,” Posada said. “The wind was very strange today, and the ball just went high. I just had to keep running.”

The Yanks had been down 3-2 before Posada’s two-run blast, getting their previous RBI from Mark Teixeira and Hideki Matsui.

Non so quanto possa dar fastidio questo istant replay, se non perdere quei 5-10 minuti di partita, un nonnulla, contando le 3 ore e rotte che può durare una partita.

E, alle brutte, c'è sempre il tie-break per risparmiare quei 26-27 secondi preziosissimi per il bene dello spettatore medio.
Spettatore che, par di capire dal concetto IBAF, va a vedere uno spettacolo, paga e non vede l'ora di andarsene.

Un arbitro veterano della MLB, precisamente Danley; viene colpito dalla mazza rotta di Barajas, nella partita Texas Rangers-Toronto Blue Jays.

L'attesa è stata di ben 10 minuti, più dell'istant replay, che pazienza.

TORONTO -- Blue Jays catcher Rod Barajas was waiting for Kerwin Danley to get back up, but the home-plate umpire remained on the ground, motionless after being struck on the side of the head by a bat on Tuesday night at Rogers Centre.

It was a scary moment that quickly quieted the ballpark during the top of the sixth inning in Texas' 5-4 victory over Toronto. With one out, Rangers designated hitter Hank Blalock offered at the first pitch he received from pitcher Roy Halladay, shattering his bat on contact and sending a large piece of the barrel flying over a crouched Barajas.

The splintered piece of wood struck Danley on the right side of his helmet, causing the veteran ump to collapse behind home plate.

Allora avevano ragione i Red Sox a volersene liberare......

Diciamo che i Dodgers lo devono ringraziare per dove li ha portati l'anno scorso. Fa l'altro 50 partite sono meno di due mesi e se i Dodgers si tengono a galla, al rientro potrà fare quello che ha già fatto un anno fa (sempre che l'effetto "bomba" non sia scomparso)

P.S. a maggior ragione dovrei gongolare, ritenendo Manny il maggior (unico) responsabile dell'esclusione dei D'backs dai playoff.
